REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LONDON - Indonesia and Britain have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in education. Indonesian Embassy spokesperson Heni Hamida told on Wednesday that the MoU had been signed by Indonesian Education and Cultural Minister Mohammad Nuh and British Minister for Universities and Science David Willets.
She said the MoU was signed as a follow-up to British Prime Minister David Cameron`s visit to Indonesia in April this year to meet with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
Mohammad Nuh stated the globalization of education was a necessary part of cultural diplomacy, which promoted mutual understanding and respect among nations. As a result of the MoU and through regular meetings between Indonesian and British educational working groups, multiple networks are expected to be established to connect educational institutions between the two countries.
