REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta or Lady Gaga, stirs concern on Indonesian culture, a sociologist from Universitas Indonesia, Ricardi Adnan, said. “When we are exposed (by certain values -ed), the more exposure the easier we get affected,” Adnan said on Tuesday.

He continued, Lady Gaga concert was more than a merely entertainment, but also contained certain values such as hedonism and sexual exposure as contained in her lyrics, clothes, and performance. The culture delivers through some certain symbols.

Several observers, he said, used theory on conspiracy to interpret Gaga’s existence. The theory says Gaga’s arrival is a part of conspiracy owned by certain culture. Moreover, the majority of Indonesian people are Muslim. “The impact is on spiritualism, as when people usually make their idol or role model as their reference,” he explained.
