REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Jakarta Police Department rejects to permit Lady Gaga concert in Gelora Bung Karno, Senayan, Jakarta, initially planned on June 3, 2012. “Police do not recommend Lady Gaga concert because the committee does not propose the permission for commotion,” the Spokesman of Jakarta Police Department, Rikwanto, said on Monday.

Rikwanto added police did not have the authority to issue the permission if the committee had not submitted the report of commotion. Yet, the tickets are already sold out.

The concert is also banned by Indonesian Council of Ulema (MUI), the head of a faction in House of Representatives, and some other organizations, as Gaga often dress immodestly, in which does not fit Indonesian culture.

The President Director of Big Daddy Entertainment, the promoter of Lady Gaga concert, Michael Rusli, confirmed that he had not submitted the permission of commotion to the police as the submission was usually conducted two or three weeks before the event. “Of course we will ask for permission,” Rusli said firmly.

In South Korea, the controversial singer also recieved rejection from some Christian communities, during the concert plan last April. Some were pictured praying in a church, hoping that Gaga cancelled the concert. They blamed  Lady Gaga for promoting indecency and homosexual love. Well, Indonesia is not alone.
