Italy turns to Indonesian for sheep milk supply

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MILAN - The manufacturer of pecorino cheese looked for Indonesian supplier, the Italian entrepreneur, Ricardo Sartori, Representante per l’Italia Panseri Impianti Srl, said when he visited the promotion stand of Indonesian food held by Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Milan in Parma Italia on May 7-10, 2012.

On his meeting with the head of Milan ITPC, Sumber Sidabutar, he explained that his manufacture lacked of sheep milk supply as Syria, the supplier, was politically unstable. The condition forces him look for other suppliers and Indonesia is the first choice.

He said, Italy needed three until five million liter sheep milk per year. If Indonesia can fulfill the demand, he would come to Indonesia to observe the supplier. Furthermore, he promised to provide bank guarantee for supplier he works with. The transaction value could reach at least 28 billion IDR per year.

The total trade of Indonesia and Italy in 2011 reaches 4,391.15 million USD or increased 33.16 percent compared to previous year. It represents the high demand of Italy for Indonesian commodities, especially in food industry, such as palm oil and coffee.
