Bali insists on rebuilding its airport

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR – The existence of an adequate airport in Bali is vital for tourism, as tourism would not thrive without airport, the Chairman of Commission IV of Bali Local House of Representatives, Nyoman Parta, said on Tuesday. He added, Bali Provincial Governor had proposed the redevelopment of Bali Airport in the last five years. “If necessary, (we want to build) an airport with landing and departing tracks,” he said.

The renovation of Ngurah Rai Airport is expected to increase the foreign tourist visit from three million to six million. Meanwhile, the Head of Bali Tourism Department, Ida Bagus Subhiksu, said with the recent condition of Ngurah Rai Airport, the tourists reached eight million people with 2.8 of them were foreigners. “Without renovation, the airport is not pleasant choice for tourists,” he said.
