REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR – Indonesian Military Force (TNI) hopes to be the biggest ten of peacekeeper contributor in the world. The Commander of Indonesian Peacekeeping Center, Imam Edy Mulyono, expects TNI to send at least 4,000 personnel next year.

“We want to enhance our role as peacekeeper in international stage. If we can send 4,000 personnel, we will be the biggest ten,” Mulyono said on Friday.

The Indonesian peacekeeper troops are now of 1,800 personnel. He said the number was still far from the biggest ten. TNI deploys the troops in Haiti and Congo, while the biggest number of troops is in Lebanon. Mulyono said TNI also placed military observer in Sudan, South Sudan, Liberia, and Syria.

“We already have six military observers in Syria and we will place ten more,” he said. The ten are now preparing permission for Security Travel Authorization from the UN.
