REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The allegation of organ theft over Indonesian workers in Malaysia was not proven, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Marty Natalegawa, said on Friday in the Press Conference. The Head of Forensic Team from Indonesian National Police, Musaddeq Ishaq, confirmed Natalegawa’s statement.

“The death of the three Indonesian workers was due to the shot in the head and left chest. All vital organs of each, including eyes, heart, liver, and kidneys, are complete. The stitches were from the first autopsy,” Ishaq said.

Re-autopsy, coordinated with the team from the Faculty of Medicine in Universitas Mataram, was conducted yesterday on 11.00 in local time. “The principles of the autopsy are independent, professional, accountability, and transparence,” he said.

The Director of Protection at the National Agency for Placement and Protection of Migrant Workers, Bambang Purwanto, said the three Indonesian workers were shot by five Malaysian police. “Despite the organ theft is not proven, we urge Malaysia to investigate,” Marty Natalegawa said.

Diraja Malaysia Police also has formed an investigation team according to Criminal Procedure Code. The investigation accorded with the spirit of cooperation between the police of both countries.

“We can only recommend the joint investigation. If it is needed, we will do it,” the Spokesman of Indonesian National Police, Saud Usman Nasution, said.
