REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR - Mass food poisoning that causes 170 people in Cilebut, Bogor, West Java, was alleged to be caused by germs during its processing. "The mass food poisoning is allegedly caused by germs contamination in the wedding reception party`s catering that has been consumed by the guests," said Bogor`s Health Department Head Try Wahyu Harini, on Monday.

According to Try, the health agency had collected some food samples to be tested in the laboratory for any suspicious substances. "Based on information from the wedding guests, they experienced nausea and vomiting symptoms after consuming food in the reception. Therefore we gather the food samples for laboratory test," noted Try.

Such symptoms were mostly caused by germs in food that consumed by human body, Try added. Unhygienic and improper cooking process and serving might cause the germs contaminate the food, he said. The consumed food were served and made solely by the homeowner, not from a food catering company. At least 15 people are still undergo medical treatment in the Cibinong general hospital.
