REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, AMMAN – Coincided with Palestine Land Day, Friday was a historical moment for international world as activists from 80 countries joining Global March to Jerusalem (GMJ) gathered in Jordan to hold peace act demanding Palestine’s freedom. The activists include GMJ-land caravan which went from Karachi, Pakistan, and arrived in Amman, Jordan.
“All Indonesian delegations have arrived in Amman,” the Head of Indonesian GMJ, Bachtiar Nasir, said on Friday.
The Indonesian delegations, come from mass organization and Non Governmental Organizations (NGO), reach 300 people. They are scheduled to meet in United Engineer Building in Amman, Jordan, at 08.00 local time. As reported by Nashih Nashrullah from Republika, GMJ convoyed to the stage of dissent, which were in Baptism Area and Jordan-Palestine border. The mileage to the border, where million members of GMJ do long march, is about 1.5 hour from Amman.
Nasir added that the act was only oration from each country's representative to show their support on Jerusalem and Palestine. The Presidium of Indonesian Association of Muslim Intellectuals (ICMI), Marwah Dawud, represents Indonesia. In those open places, the GMJ board does not set high target as they will not enter Jerusalem. The decision is following Israeli condemnation toward GMJ.
“We give them (Israel –Ed) an international pressure. If they reject to change, then theres will be 80 countries ready to liberate Palestine,” Nasir added.
The delegations had prepared some anticipation to face the probability, including Israel’s repressive act. The members were advised to bring water for the antidote of tear gas. They are also urged to lie on the ground if any chaos occurs. Woman and older activists will be guarded as the act is scheduled to finish at 17.00 at local time. There will be no following act on the next day considering the Jordan policy, which only allows the act on March 30.
