REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The Head of Jakarta Marine and Agriculture Department, Ipih Ruyani, admitted that Tomcat had reached Jakarta. Yet, the officer of Jakarta Pest Organism Controller (POPT) said the number of the insects that could infect human skin was still normal.

"The Tomcat population in Jakarta is still normal. Or I can say, the number is still low,” Ruyani said on Saturday then added, no one had been infected so far. 

To prevent the worst case scenario, at least 44 public health centers in Jakarta are ready to give the first aid for people infected by Tomcat. She expected people in Jakarta no to be worried about the insect. 

Tomcat will attack if its habitat is disturbed. If our skin get in direct contact with Tomcat poisonous liquid, we should clean the infected part with water and soap then put on some ointment.

"And do not forget to clean the bushes where Tomcat could hide," Ruyani added.
