REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PADANG - West Sumatra has a chance to export rendang (spicy meat dish -Ed), to Indo-Market Berlin, Germany. The export offer comes from a from local business person in Germany who is also originally from Indonesia.
"Some deals related to the sending of West Sumatera seasoning to Germany have been made with several emigrants," the head of a woman association in West Sumatra, Nevi Irwan Prayitno, said recently.
West Sumatera is one of the participants in Indonesian Culinary Festival 2012 in Berlin, Germany, March 9-12. It presented 17 kinds of Minang food.
The chance should be utilized to continue developing Minang natural seasoning, especially rendang. This is a great challenge for the provincial government to establish a team to answer on such demand and opportunity.
"We cannot export rendang due to some restriction (in Germany) on food including Indonesian beef, although we have big fans of rending," Prayitno said.
