REPUBLIKA.CO.ID,  JAKARTA – The Raid movie will be released all at once in Indonesia, the US, France, and Canada on March 23. “This is the first Indonesian movie launched abroad,” the Producer of The Raid, Ario Sagantoro, said on Monday. The movie will also be released in Australia on the next April.

Directed by Welsh filmmaker, Gareth Huw Evans, the movie tells a story of 20 members of special task force running a mission to catch a notorious drug lord in 30-story building. The building is untouchable and becomes the nest of the villains.

“The Raid is not only an action movie, but also tells us the power of struggle, survival, and world-truth,” Evans said.

Evans also writes the scenario for the movie. The process of the making took three months, longer than other movies. But the production cost is quite low. “About 90 percent of the scenes took indoor,” the Producer, Ario Sagantaro, said.

The movie is starred by Ray Sahetapy, Iko Uwais, Joe Taslim, and Yayan Ruhian. The martial art choreographer is also involved in the movie. Mike Shinoda, the mastermind of Linkin Park, and a genius composer, Joseph Trapanese, compose the music.

The Raid has achieved some international awards such as Cadillac People’s Choice Award after its world premiere in Toronto International Film Festival 2011 and The Best Film and Audience Award Jameson Dublin in International Film Festival 2012. Really deserves a big applause!
