REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesia continues to encourage other countries to recognize Palestine as an independent state, Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Michael Tene said on Friday. "Indonesia continues to push for more and more countries to recognize Palestine as an independent state," he said on Friday.
He noted that the recognition of other countries to the independence of Palestine was a priority of Indonesia, and therefore the issue was raised at the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) meeting in Bali last year. "To date Indonesia continues to encourage and urge more countries to recognize Palestinian independence," Tene said.
Besides, he said some countries in Asia and Africa were already assisting Palestine by training Palestine officials in administrative skills to improve their capacity in running an effective government.
