REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR – After booked a good record in 2010 export, prefab traditional Balinese house export suffers a decrease due to global crisis. The export during 2011 is 5,007 units with the value of 4.23 million USD. While in the previous year the export value is 14.85 million USD.

“We shipped 98,417 units in 2010 then compared to 2011, both the value and the number of exported units decreased,” the Head Bureau of Bali Provincial Government I Ketut Teneng said on Sunday.

The decrease was caused by the market condition and global crisis that impact the destination countries. Although the number of export is not quite high, yet prefab traditional Balinese house attracts international buyers. The houses resemble of the artistic and practical values of Balinese culture. We can find some prefab house manufactures in Jalan Ida Bagus Mantra and Sanur-Nusa Dua. Those places are quite popular among international tourists.

“Some tourists who find our prefab traditional house attractive, usually buy and ask to send them to their home countries,” Ketut Teneng said.

The house is not hard to be assembled. The buyers can easily assemble it. “The export of prefab house has a good prospect. To some extent, every month we still receive demands from abroad,” he said.

He added, given the contribution of 0.85 percent from total export, the prefab house was among seven small enterprise productions that successfully reach the international market. Other products that have been “go international” are shoes, bags, canned fish, plastics, textile, and textile products.
