REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG – What city that cross in your mind which is arty, cultural, and creative as well? Ah… Indonesians may get easily guess: Bandung!
The Minister of Tourism Affair and Creative Economy, Marie Elka Pangestu, supports the Mayor of Bandung, Dada Rosada's plan to make Bandung as the central city of art, culture, and creative industry.
"Bandung has its pioneer in art, culture, and creative industry," Pangestu said. Some of the creative industry pioneers are distribution store (distro) and fine art. "Bandung has many fine art centers," Pangestu added. She said she would facilitate the governor proposal to make Bandung as art, culture, and creative industry city.
"We will cooperate with local authority. They plan to build a center of art and creative industry," she said.
Pangestu added, one of the main problems from creative industry agents was that there was no place to display their works. "It is difficult for them to exhibit their work and do the empowerment. They do not have proper facilities," she said.
Bandung is rich with creativity and abundant human resources. In music industry, a lot of popular singers or vocal bands rooted in Bandung, not to mention creativity in food and fashion industries. Yay… We couldn’t agree more!
