REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MEDAN –The roaring water of Sipiso-piso Waterfall fascinates every visitor. With the height of 120 meters, the waterfall drops like thousands of sharp blades. Thus, people call it Sipiso-piso (piso means blade).

Sipiso-piso waterfall flows to Lake Toba. To feel the rushing water, the visitors should climb down hundreds of little steps to the bottom of the waterfalls. Be careful because it is wet and slippery!

Before feeling the rush of water, the visitors will be amazed by beautiful view of Tanah Karo from the post in the top of the hill, the upstream of the waterfalls. From this place, we can see the landscape of Lake Toba, the biggest volcanic lake in the world.

Sipiso-piso Waterfall is located near Tongging Village in Karo, North Sumatera.  Geographicly, Tongging Village is situated in lowland, while Sipiso-piso is 800 meters above sea level. It is also surrounded by green hill where pines grow.

It takes two hours to get to Sipiso-piso from Medan. The tourists can use public transportation from Medan terminal to Kabanjahe. The bus fare depends on the bus that we choose. Economic bus is definetely the cheapest one. In Kabanjahe, we can rent a car to Sipiso-piso. Enjoy the waterfall and be carefull with the blades!
