REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, GORONTALO -- The Gorontalo provincial government will turn Lake Limboto into a tourist destination in the province in 2015, according to Deputy Governor Idris Rahim.

"Lake Limboto will combine land and water tourism activities. Visitors can enjoy the beauty of the lake from different directions as they will be able to access the lake by a new road built around it," Idris said here on Monday (9/3).

He noted that Lake Limoboto used to be a favorite tourist destination in Gorontalo; it will be revitalized to return it to its original status.

According to him, the construction of a new road around the lake and a sluice gate were part of the lake's revitalization project.

Idris remarked that visitors can use fishermen's boats to indulge in fishing or sailing in the lake.

"We have also dredged the lake and improved fish farming to enhance the source of the fishermen's income. The revitalization project has also been aimed at environmental preservation and increasing the welfare of local people," he added.
