REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo said all regional leaders in Indonesia must keep on monitoring situation in their respective regions. He said that to comment on malnutrition and measles disease outbreak occurred Asmat tribe in Papua.
"All regional governments, started from governor to village head must continue to check the condition of the society in each region," said Tjahjo on Monday (January 15).
Tjahjo asked the regional governments to report everything related to disaster and also the possibility of a widespread disease. According to him, the region already has fixed procedure to all the situations, so it can be handled immediately.
"If the situation needs support and assistance nationally, they must report to relevant agencies," Tjaho explained.
He also warned about the measles outbreak that spread in Asmat tribe. Tjahjo said the regional government there must know all the latest situation. Ministry of Home Affairs also has prepared the posts that can communicate with local government.
Based on a number of reports, measles outbreak and malnutrition still occurred in many regions in Papua, especially Agats district. Some people with measles currently being treated at Agats Hospital, the capital of Asmat district.
The number of people who have measles and treated at Agats Hospital are about 22 patients. In the last few months, 24 children have died due to this disease.
