REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Defendant Andi Agustinus aka Andi Narogong apologized to all Indonesian people as he had caused failure in realization of single identity number program due to corruption in the e-ID card procurement program.
The businessman conveyed his apology when reading defense plea at Corruption Court on Thursday (December 14).
"I admit my mistake and I apologize to have hurt many Indonesian people, where the nation once had a very noble idea to have a united national identity program and the single identity could make the nation becomes great," Narogong said.
Andi was charged eight years in prison and fine of Rp1 billion subsidiary to six months confinement plus additional crime to pay substitute 2,15 million US dollars and Rp1,18 billion subsidiary to three years confinement.
Andi admitted, his action is very despicable.
"My friends and I did something that very despicable and hopefully it becomes a lesson for all of us," he added.
Narogong's lawyer, Syamsul Huda said, his client did not involved in some events in the budgeting and procurement of e-ID card.
Therefore, he assessed, Narogong was not the main actor in e-ID card graft case.
On the other hand, KPK has named Narogong as justice collaborator.
Andi Narogong allegedly involved in in the granting of bribes related to process of budgeting e-ID card in House of Representatives from 2011-2013 budget year.
In addition, he also played a role in directing and winning PNRI Consortium to be the implementer of the procurement of e-ID card. He also believed that arranged the procurement of the project together with Setya Novanto.
Further more, Andi hopes the panel of judges and Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to return his assets that has been seized. He said, it will be used to pay the fine.
