REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The former Indonesian president, Megawati Sukarnoputri, was reported to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, on suspected religious blasphemy case. The police said it would be followed up as other reports.

The National Police Chief, Gen. Tito Karnavian, said the report would certainly be followed up by investigators. As the report in general, the process would begin from the investigation.

"Every report, we certainly would do an investigation. This is the attempt of the police to search for and to find whether an incident included into a criminal case or not," said Tito at the Police Staff College (PTIK), South Jakarta, Wednesday.

Tito said, if in the process of investigation, strong evidence were found, the investigator could raise the status to the investigation. In this level, the investigator should find out the suspects of the case. "But if in the investigation process no evidence was found, the police cannot raise it. The examination would be stopped there. Once more, we do the investigation to determine whether the report made by the complainant were indicated to be criminal or not," he said.
