REPUBLIKA.CO.ID,  JAKARTA -- Member of the House of Representatives Commission IV Akmal Pasluddin said government, particularly the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Governor of DKI policies to continue Jakarta Bay reclamation mega project can worsen environmental damage.

Akmal warned the two leaders that Jakarta Bay reclamation moratorium decided by the Parliament and the government, has not been revoked.

In addition, the result of an appeal against the administrative court ruling was in favor of unitary Indonesian Traditional Fishermen (KNTI) on Pergub 2004 on authorizing the implementation of reclamation at Pulau G, is still in the process of law.

"Luhut and Ahok ignored all of it and it showed their arrogance of power. It was abusing the laws and rules of the state," he said in a statement received Republika.co.id, Sunday (9/18).

Meanwhile, public lawyer from Legal Aid Institute (LBH) Jakarta, Tigor Hutapea, said Coordinating Minister for Maritime has insulted the court by violating the court's decision.

The resumption of the G Island reclamation project is against a verdict issued in May 2016 by the State Administrative Court (PTUN) in Jakarta.

The court ordered the revocation of the projects permit issued by the Jakarta governor. The reclamation project also must be suspended until further legal binding decision.

Tigor said President Joko Widodo must pay attention and review Luhut's position in the cabinet as the minister has insulted the court. Moreover, the act of contempt of court is classified as violations of the minister's obligation.

On Tuesday (9/13) night, Coordinating Maritime Affairs Minister Luhut Binsar Panjaitan said the governemt has given green light to PT Muara Wisesa Samudra (a subsidiary of Agung Podomoro Grup) to resume the G Island reclamation project.

Luhut said it was a final descision. He has given his guarantee that the developer will meet the standard needed to resume the reclamation of G Island.
