REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Indonesian military (TNI) is deploying armed vehicles, Super Puma helicopters and other tactical vehicles to secure the fifth Extraordinary Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit held in Jakarta on March 6-7.

"We keep monitoring territorial security through the Territorial Security Operation Command Task Forces in their respective jurisdiction," commander of the fifth Extraordinary OIC Summit's information task force Colonel Czi Berlin G said here on Sunday.

Security around the venue of the Summit at the Jakarta Convention Center was tightened ahead of the opening ceremony of the two-day meeting on Sunday.

He said military and police personnel as well as members of Presidential Security Detail (Paspampres) were deployed to provide security during the event.

"Security is tightened starting from the entrance of the Bung Karno Sports Stadium. Fully armed military and police personnel are stationed there, with some of them patrolling the area," he said.

He said if an indication of threat is detected, each commander of accommodation complex where VVIPs are staying are requested to respond to it and coordinate with Paspampres.

Meanwhile, the territorial security task force under the coordination of the Jakarta Regional Military Command is preparing 3,000 personnel to ensure the success of the OIC Summit, he said.
