REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The Head of Public Relations of the National Police, Inspector General of Police Boy Rafli Amar, said the police had heard information regarding the discourse of serial rallies that would be held on February 11, 12, and 15. But, so far, there has been no notification to the police.  "We would monitor the progress," he said in the National Police Headquarters in South Jakarta on Monday.

According to Boy, the information of serial rallies spread on social media. Some communities organizations were pledge to have a rally at the same time with the local pre-election silence week. However, it was not known whether the actions would be banned, either by the police or the election supervisory board (Bawaslu).

According to boy, the General Election Commission (KPU) decided the February 12, 13, and 14 as pre-election silence week. He reminded the society not to hold any demonstration on those days, especially those which was related to the local leader election.

"Pre-election silence week actually was only three days. Therefore, during the period all elements in society were hoped to raise a supporting atmosphere,” said him.

Boy gave a light explanation about the pre-election silence week. During the period, Bawaslu and KPU would prepare the facilities and infrastructure of the election, including the checking of recent election logistic. Police hoped for the cooperation of society to support the local leader election process.

"Police suggested not to hold any activity which might disrupt the process of the local leader election. It was a call of attention for the society on the election agenda. If there was any demonstration, mass mobilization, and others, please do not make any uproar,” said Boy.
