REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - One of Indonesia's largest copper companies, PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (NNT) is ready to obey government policy related to downstream investment (hilirisasi) of raw minerals in the country. NTT signed a conditional sales purchases (CSP) agreement with a copper concentrate company, PT Nusantara Smelting Corporation (NSC).

"CSP agreement is the best way for NNT, NSC and also government," President Director of NNT, Martiono Hadianto said recently.

Hadianto explained that his company committed to implement government provisions. NNT will be a copper supplier to local smelters. NSC also supports government's policy to build processing and refinery capacity.

President Director of NSC, Melvin Korompis welcomes this CSP agreement. He said that it could take advantages to build a smelter to support downstream mineral policy in the country.

"With the signing of CSPA agreement, we can build a new smelter in Indonesia," Korompos said. 

The construction will be completed in five years until 2018.
