REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PADANG -- The city government of Padang, West Sumatra, has introduced the tourism potential of Sikuai Island to Country Garden, a Chinese investor, for its optimal management.
"We are trying to renew the potential of Sikuai Island, which is already known to the world, but with a more professional management," Deputy Mayor of Padang Emzalmi said here on Monday while receiving the investor from China at the Minangkabau International Airport.
"To that end, today, we received an entourage of Country Garden from China that will invest in the property and its tourism affairs," Emzalmi affirmed.
According to the deputy mayor, investment from the private sector is a dire necessity to develop hotels and houses in Sikuai, as well as to accelerate the development of the central government.
In addition, the Padang city administration will hold a presentation regarding the potential of the island, which can result in a bilateral cooperation.
Emzalmi further noted that the meeting between the government of Padang and the Country Garden entourage will be followed by the cooperation.
The Sikuai Island resort is equipped with various facilities, including a three-star hotel.
