REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Respected netizen Mustofa B. Nahrawardaya strongly rejected the police's statement on the arrest of Muslim cyber army leader. He explained Muslim cyber army (MCA) did not have any leader. Therefore, he asked the police not to believe the suspects' claim.

Mustofa who is a member of the Assembly Library and Information Central Board of Muhammadiyah said every Muslim netizens may claim themselves as MCA activists. Nevertheless, it did not mean the claim will surely be acknowledged by other activists.

"The arrested perpetrator should be able to prove their claim as MCA activists. It can be tested, but I could not leak the detail," Mustofa told Republika.co.id on Thursday (March 1).

Mustofa said MCA did not emerged in a sudden. Although unorganized, MCA activists can identify one another in working to defend their belief as a Muslim.

MCA activists are unique, Mustofa remarked. The activists never met face by face, did not bind by any organization and did not have headquarters. "They do not have email address or bank account," he said.

The one and only reason that bind MCA activists to cooperate in raising opinion is defending Islam. They are not bounded to each other by money, jobs, political parties or Islamic organizations, Mustofa explained.

MCA activists tried real hard to maintain their good name by not creating group in social media or instant messaging mobile applications. "They do not have Facebook, Whatsapp, BBM, Telegram group or others," Mustofa said.

Referring to the characteristics, Mustofa ascertained that people who drive netizens through email, bank account or a structured body such as office or institution are not MCA.

Fake MCA activists

Mustofa asked the police to investigate throughly "MCA members" that were caught in four different cities. "I was surprised to hear they have Whatsapp and Facebook group and they designed actions to insult the president through social media post."

The owner of @NetizenTofa Twitter account believed the police will be able to reveal the lies by interrogating the suspect in detail. He asked the police not to buy the suspects statement easily.

Mustofa said the lies will soon be revealed because the real MCA activists do not have the intention to spread hatred. MCA activists have their own rule. "In the MCA society, when there is any provocation of hatred it will be reported as spam or blocked by other activists," he remarked.

MCA activists also did not have any membership. "How come the suspects claimed to have MCA membership? That must be a joke. The police have to investigate where did they register as MCA member," he said.
