REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Lawyer Yusril Ihza Mahendra suggested mass organizations (ormas) who rejected the government regulation in lieu of law (Perppu) No.2 of 2017 about mass organizations to close ranks in filling judicial review to the Contitutional Court.

“While HTI (Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia) has already made the move, others are welcomed to do the same. So it will speed up the process (of judicial review). If we do it one by one, when it will be completed? So let's try to unite to achieve our goal,” Yusril said during the discussion in the Headquarter Office of Crescent Star Party, Jakarta, Monday (August 21).

When the mass organization stand together to have judicial review of the Perppu, Yusril assessed, the effect will be greater. He also supported the people who want to stage actions in refusing the Perppu because people have to issue a lot of opinions democratically.

“We are trying to cancel this Perppu. One of them is by continuing to demonstrate against this Perppu,” he said.

In his opinion, the rallies and demonstration could not be prohibited because it is the right of every citizen. “We keep on lobbying the parliament and people can stage rallies and hold a strong social media campaign to reject this Perppu,” Yusril said.

Previously, Yusril proposed judicial review on the Perppu on behalf of HTI. Since HTI has been officially dissolved by the government, he then represent former HTI spokesperson Ismail Yusanto.

“We have to fight in a constitutional and democratic way. The only way is to bring the case to the Constitutional Court,” he added.
