REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The general prosecutor has rejected the defendant exception delivered at the inaugural session of the religious blasphemy case involving Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) on Tuesday (Dec 13). They believed video published at Buni Yani's personal Facebook account was not the only thing that created a dynamic in society.

According to the prosecutor, Ahok's statement as written in the book titled Mengubah Indonesia (Changing Indonesia) caused a split in the society. Especially the writings in sub-chapter Cover Behind Scripture which describe Surah Al Maidah verse 51 to divide the people with the spirit of colonialism. "The point is, even if the defendant dislike Alquran verses and not believing it, he may not deliver such statement, no one is allowed to do so," Head of general prosecutor, Ali Mukartono, reiterated on Tuesday.

Previously, in the exception delivered at the inaugural session of the trial, Ahok said his statement in Seribu Islands was addressed to his political opponents who he claimed afraid to compete with programs. He then accused his cowardly political opponent are using Al Maidah verse 51 to affect voters with the concept of "we share the same faith" so they would not vote for Ahok. The same statement written in Mengubah Indonesia published at 2008.

Responding to these remarks, Ali argued Ahok felt himself as the most correct. Ali said all candidates running for elections has the right to use all means as long as it was in accordance with the law.
