REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Former Chief of Staff of the army, Major General (Ret) Kivlan Zein said the hostage cases against Indonesian citizens (citizen) that occurred for the third time, is an insult to Indonesia. He asserted that this incident can not be tolerated because it bring embarrassment to Indonesia.

Kivlan said that the third accident like this happened because the government is not firm in their dealing with this issue. According to him, there is no longer a need for diplomatic time; he said the option for military operations is most suitable for this case so that it does not happen again.

"We also needed to get permission from the Government of the Philippines to allow military operations to happen. We must be firm and hard for this case," he said when contacted by Republika.co.id, Thursday (30/6).

Kivlan said the military operation is a better option to stop the next abduction. Because the pace of diplomacy should be used when it is to be done between the two countries and not when it is involve in abduction.

Earlier, Minister of Defense, Ryamizrad Ryacudu said the Indonesian side has received permission from the Philippine government to enter into the boundary waters. This becomes a signal for the Indonesian government to be able to take action to free hostages.
