REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Tax revenue in 2016 was believed to grow according to the target of 14.8 percent to Rp 1,356 trillion. Director General of Taxation, Ministry of Finance, Sigit Pramudito, said the target could be reached with extra efforts and strengthening of tax officials

"With extra effort, we can get Rp 403.6 trillion," Sigit explained during a meeting with Commission XI of House of Representatives, in Jakarta, Thursday (9/1) night.

Tax revenue growth target of 14.8 percent or Rp 175 trillion was compared to estimates of tax revenue by the end of 2015 amounted to Rp 1,181 trillion, or 91.3 percent of the target in State Budget of 2015.

Sigit believed these targets can be achieved at least by two factors. First, the institutional strengthening of tax officials which was delayed in mid-2015 and will be able to be realized effectively in 2016.

According to him, he will increase the number of employees approximately 7,000 employees in 2016, including the addition of 3,000 employees in 2015. The Office in various areas will also increase to 20 offices.

"The ratio of our tax officials are still one versus seven thousand taxpayers," he added.

Second, in terms of policy instruments, Sigit believed that policy plan that was delayed in 2015, such as the value added tax (VAT) for toll road services and retail stamp duty, can be implemented next year.

Based Sigit explanation, in the tax revenue target of Rp 1.356 trillion in 2016, the income tax of non-oil sector is targeted at Rp 715.78 trillion, Added Value Tax and Sales Tax on Luxury Goods is targeted at Rp 571.73 trillion, Land and Building Tax is targetted at Rp 19.4 trillion, other taxes is targeted at Rp 11.76 trillion, and oil and gas income tax is targeted at Rp 38.07 trillion.
