REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- A total of 2,069,246 residents of Surabaya have been registered as eligible voters for the 2015 mayoral election, according to the provisional voter list issued by the local election commission on Wednesday.
"The number increases slightly from 2,017,450 recorded in the final voter list for the 2014 presidential election," spokesperson of the local election commission Nurul Amalia said here on Wednesday.
The figure put on the provisional voter list is the result of verification and research conducted by around 6,000 officers tasked with updating voter data in 31 sub-districts from July 15 to August 19, 2015, she said.
Based on the result of open plenary to recapitulate the provisional voter list, the 2,069,246 eligible voters consist of 1,011,706 male voters and 1,057,540 female voters.
The provisional voter list will be announced in each area in Surabaya.
She said the residents of Surabaya should actively check whether their names have been put on the list. If their names have not been put on the list they should election officers.
The provisional voter list will be revised after being announced and receiving responses from the public. According to the KPU rule, the provisional voter list will be announced from September 10 to 19, 2015.
