REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LHOKSEUMAWE -- The Synergy for Solidarity has built ten units of bathing, washing, and toilet (MCK) facilities for the refugees from Myanmar and Bangladesh stranded in East Aceh district, Aceh province.

"We have built the MCK facilities for the refugees, and we hope that they can be useful to them," Synergy for Solidarity spokesman Hendra Vramendra stated when contacted in Lhoksomawe on Monday (25/5).

He noted that the facilities were built by the Synergy for Solidarity in cooperation with PT Cakrabuana Sukses Indonesia and Bandung Synergy Foundation.

Besides building the MCK facilities, they also provided the refugees with seven dispensers, eight fans, 14 large aqua bottles, and 21 bales of clothing.

"All of them are donated by the people of Aceh Tamiang district," Hendra affirmed, adding that the Synergy for Solidarity has set up a command post of volunteers in Aceh Tamiang.

Social Affairs Minister Khofifah Indar Parawansa remarked in Langs, Aceh Province, on Sunday that the Indonesian government would soon verify the identities of the Bangladeshi refugees currently being accommodated in Aceh for immediate repatriation.

"A total of 720 Bangladeshis need to be verified because the International Organization for Migration (IOM) has already prepared a transit location for them before being sent home," Parawansa pointed out.

She remarked that the refugees from Bangladesh were job seekers, and so, they will be repatriated.

She added that the problem had been discussed intensively by the Indonesian foreign ministry, the Bangladesh embassy, and the head of the IOM mission.
