REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Administrative Court favored the sue of Jakarta Bay fishermen and environmental organization on Thursday (March 16). The court revoked the reclamation lisence for F, I, and K Islands.

Refering to the verdict, the inactive Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) was ordered to temporarily stop the Jakarta Bay reclamation project in K Island. "In principal, (panel of judges) entirely favored the lawsuit by the rapporteur (and) stated the license of reclamation of K island as invalid,” said  Chairman of the Panel of Judges M Arief Pratomo.

In fact, Jakarta provincial government unhappy with the verdict then filed an appeal. Moreover, accordding to Emmy Hafild as the spokesperson of Basuki Tjahaja Purnama and Djarot Saiful Hidayat (Ahok-Djarot)’s winning team there was no other solution to deal with environmental pollution in Jakarta Bay other than reclamation.

Emmy said the only option to resolve it was by relocating the societies in North Coastal of Jakarta. She added that the land in that area was 1.5 meters under the sea level. It was predicted to go down up to 2.5 meter under the sea level. It potentially ended up with three disasters in the future.

Responding to the appeal, the legal team of Coalition to Save Jakarta Bay (KSTJ), Tigor Hutapea said the provincial government showed an anti-criticism. "I say the appeal is an anti-criticism for societies action in dealing with reclamation," said him to Republika.co.id on Wednesday.

Tigor said the government should take the verdict as it came. The government should reflect on itself as the verdict showed many violations conducted by them. "Reclamation also impacts on environmental problems and fishermen life. Reclamation is not a public interest. They should say thank you," he said.
