REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CIREBON -- Two people were injured when a Cessna 172 trainer aircraft crashed in a rice field in Banjarwangun Village, Cirebon District, West Java, at 9:10 a.m. local time, Tuesday (30/8).

The injured trainer and his trainee were rushed to a nearby community health center, Cirebon Police Resort Adjunct Senior Commissioner Indra Jafar stated.

The police are still investigating to find the cause of the crash, he noted.

In the meantime, spokesman of the Bandung Search and Rescue officer Joshue said the two victims were later taken to the Ciremai Hospital. Joshue stated that they were safe but in a state of shock.

Spokesman of the West Java Provincial Police Senior Commissioner Yusri Yunus noted that the victims were identified as Dana Aviantara, the pilot or trainer, and 25-year-old Novriandi, the trainee. "The pilot and trainee just suffered bruises," Yunus said.

He suspected that the aircraft's engine stopped working. The pilot then attempted to make an emergency landing in a rice field. The trainer aircraft belongs to PT. Angkasa Aviation Academy School.
