Princess Sirindhorn of Thailand visits Borobudur

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAGELANG - Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand visited Borobudur Temple in Magelang, Central Java, on Wednesday. She was interested on the history of the Buddhist temple.

The princess arrived in Borobudur at 08.00 in the morning. Like other visitor, she also wearing batik cloth as required then enjoyed the temple which built during the reign of Sailendra Dynasty. Sirindhorn demonstrated her great interest while listening to the explanation about the temple. Spending one and half hour walking around the temple, she was asking about the stupas and reliefs to an employee of Borobudur Conservation Office, Panggah Ardiyansyah.

"The princess was interested in how to clean the temple and renovation," Ardiyansyah said.

While Head of Borobudur Temple Tourism Park, Bambang Irianto, hopes the princess visit will increase the number of tourists from Thailand.
