REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) strongly condemned Israeli security forces that killed three worshipers and injured more than 100 people at the Al-Aqsha Mosque. Indonesia rejected all acts of violence and human rights violations in the Mosque.

President Jokowi also criticized the restrictions on worshipers in the holy site. "Indonesia strongly condemns, once again, Indonesia strongly condemns the restrictions on worship at Al-Aqsha Mosque. Indonesia also strongly condemns the killings of three people that I just got information," said President Jokowi, at Ahmad Dahlan University, Yogyakarta, Saturday.

In response to this kind of situation, Indonesia has asked UN Secretary General and UN Security Council to hold a meeting over escalating Israel-Palestine conflict.

Access to Al-Aqsha Mosque has been restricted since Friday last week. Israeli police had installed metal detectors and iron fences at the mosque's entrance gates, triggering anger of Palestinian people.
