REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PARIS -- Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to attend seven events during the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP21) of the UN Framewok Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Paris, France, this week.
"Tomorrow, President Jokowi will have seven meetings as part of his agenda. The first is the president's active participation in the Leaders Event," Foreign Minister Retno L.P. Marsudi stated here on Monday.
She noted that the Leaders meeting during the COP21 conference will be held only on Monday.
"Next on the agenda are negotiations to be held until December 11, 2015. The Political Leaders Event is intended to provide a political boost for the negotiations in order to make the COP21 a success," the Indonesian foreign minister remarked.

Four bilateral meetings will also be held between Indonesia and the Netherlands, Norway, Serbia, and Russia.
"We are still trying to arrange a possible bilateral meeting between Indonesia and Russia," Retno stated.
Jokowi will also attend two major events beyond the COP21 context, including the Mission Innovative Event to be held to discuss renewable energy that will be attended by the leaders of 16 countries and US businessman Bill Gates.
The second agenda outside the COP21 is the Leaders Event on forest and climate change, which will be attended by Norway, France, Indonesia, Brazil, and other countries having forest areas and the commitment to carrying out sustainable development.
On the following day, Tuesday, December 1, Jokowi will have a bilateral meeting with the head of state of Peru.
Retno informed that the meeting will be held to discuss the chairmanship of Peru in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) where Indonesia also has several issues it will entrust to the Peruvian leadership.
After meeting the Peruvian head of state, Jokowi will observe the Indonesian pavilion at the COP21 venue.
"In a statement, the president will highlight the challenges and situation of the Indonesian forest fires. The forest fires are caused by El Nino, but Indonesia is also ready to implement preventive measures," she added.
