REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Japan's new Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, is scheduled to visit Indonesia on January 18-19 as a part of three-nation tour to South East Asia this week. The visit is expected to strengthen cooperation with Indonesia.
"His entourage includes his wife, Akie Abe, and several delegation," Presidential Staff on International Relations, Teuku Faizasyah, said on Tuesday. During his visit, Abe will hold courtesy call with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to talk on cooperation referring to Strategic Partnership signed in 2006.
Abe will also visit Economic Research Institute for Asean and East Asia (ERIA). Japan is one of the biggest economic partner of Indonesia in terms of trade and investment.
The value of bilateral trade in 2011 was 53.1 billion USD. Until October 2012, the bilateral trade reached 44.85 billion USD. In Indonesia, Japans accounts for 1,51 billion USD of investment, while until October 2012 it accounts for 1.78 billion USD.
