REPUBLICA.CO.ID, KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan says Malaysia strongly condemns Israeli attacks on Iran. Kuala Lumpur declared today's world does not need a new war.
“These aggressive actions will only add to the suffering of innocent people and open the possibility of a wider conflict. The world today does not need a new war,” Mohamad Hasan said in the caption to Wisma Putra, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Saturday.
Hasan said the actions of the attack were deeply worrying and risked inflaming greater tensions in the region.
He said the attacks clearly violated the principles of international law, including the Geneva Conventions, resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, the United Nations General Assembly, and the principles of the Charter of the United Nations (UN).
He said the attacks also violated the sovereignty of a country and threatened regional security and stability. “Whatever the reason given, violence is not the path of settlement,” Hasan said.
He stressed Malaysia condemned the harshness of Israel's cruel actions, and called for an immediate halt to the attacks. “Negotiations need to be conducted to ensure peace and global stability,” Hasan said.
Meanwhile, Indonesia in its statement did not use condemnatory diction. The Indonesian government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly regrets the failure of the negotiations between the US and Iran, which has had an impact on the military escalation in the Middle East region.
Indonesia calls on all sides to exercise restraint and to promote dialogue and diplomacy. Indonesia reiterated the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of each country and resolving differences through peaceful means.
