REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Prabowo Subianto said all forms of corruption must be eliminated, describing the fight against graft as both a moral obligation and a key requirement for national progress.

Speaking at the state commemoration of Nuzulul Quran for the Islamic year 1447 Hijri/2026 at the State Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday night, Prabowo warned that corruption and abuse of power threaten Indonesia’s development.

The president said his administration remained committed to eradicating practices that harm the public and ensuring the country’s wealth is managed for the benefit of all Indonesians.

“We must eliminate corruption, abuse, and all wrongful practices prohibited by every religion. History shows no country succeeds when its government fails to cleanse itself of corruption,” Prabowo said.

He said the message was not only rooted in religious teachings but also reflected historical lessons that honest governance is essential for economic progress and long-term stability.

Prabowo also highlighted the importance of safeguarding Indonesia’s vast natural wealth so it can be used effectively to improve living standards and strengthen national prosperity.

Indonesia, he said, has been blessed with abundant resources, which should enable the country to tackle persistent problems such as poverty, hunger, and social suffering.

“We must fight hard to eliminate poverty, hunger, and suffering among our people,” Prabowo said, adding the government must not allow any citizen to live in neglect or hardship.

The president stressed that the state has both the capacity and responsibility to ensure national wealth benefits the population rather than being concentrated in the hands of a few.

Prabowo warned the government would not tolerate individuals or groups who exploit public resources for personal enrichment or transfer national wealth abroad.

“We must not lose to those who seek to take the people’s wealth and weaken our nation,” he said, adding that the government would act firmly against those undermining Indonesia’s economy.

Prabowo also expressed gratitude for continued guidance and support from religious leaders and society, saying their encouragement strengthened his resolve to pursue reforms.

At the same event, the president called on all segments of society, including Islamic scholars and community leaders, to unite in efforts to build a prosperous Indonesia.

“Let us unite and work hard to protect our people,” he said, urging prayers and public support while pledging to confront those responsible for damaging the national economy.

Prabowo said his government would uphold truth and justice while continuing efforts to eradicate corruption and ensure Indonesia’s resources are used to strengthen national welfare.
