REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Deputy Secretary of RMI NU Jakarta, Wafa Riansyah, revealed that she visited a food tray factory in China in August 2025. There, he saw the mechanism of making a food tray because its stated price was very cheap.

“So when we look at the manufacturing process (food tray), there is a mixture of animal oil that is contained in this MSDS, that is lard,” Wafa said during a press conference at Sofyan Hotel, Jakarta, Thursday (17/9/2025).

He explained that the pork oil is mixed in a lubricant for the process of printing food trays. Wafa said it took samples of lubricants used to print food trays in China. He revealed that the samples had already been tested at the Sucofindo Laboratory, but the results had not come out after several days of submission. According to Wafa, the method of verification is not appropriate.

“For a laboratory in Indonesia that could not check the content of pig oil (in this lubricant sample), then we checked in Singapore, it turned out that the same method in Singapore could not,” he said.

He then checked the samples in two laboratories in China. The results of the checks, he said, were equally positive for containing lard.

“So today we convey, I am the Deputy Secretary of RMI NU Jakarta stated that the lab results that we brought to Indonesia and we tested again to China are true of the content of pig oil and that it was used as a lubricant to soften the food tray and then imported to Indonesia,” Wafa explained.
