REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait or Ara said the government continues to accelerate the construction program of three million homes. The effort relied not only on the People's Business Credit (KUR) housing program, but also partnered with private banks in the construction of subsidized homes without using state funds from the Housing Finance Liquidity Facility (FLPP).
“Usually the subsidy house is the one that is subsidized by the state. Last month, there was already one private bank that stated that it would provide subsidies, such as state subsidies, but financed by private,” Ara said during the meeting and symposium of Gotong Royong Housing Heritage Bangsa at Balai Sarbini, Lippo Mall Nusantara, Jakarta, Tuesday (16/9/2025) evening.
Ara reiterated President Prabowo Subianto's attention to the housing sector as a driver of the national economy. That is evident from the increase in the financing quota of the FLPP and the provision of taxation incentives for the public.
“President Prabowo wants the housing sector to be able to drive the economy, both subsidised and commercial,” he said.
The financing quota of FLPP subsidized homes this year rose significantly to 350 thousand units, from the usual only 200—220 thousand units. “The president also has real partiality to the people with the exemption of BPHTB, VAT, and PBG,” Ara said.
He added that the move is an important part of realizing the program of building three million homes, both in the form of new construction and renovation. However, according to him, the support must be accompanied by quality absorption in order to have a sustainable economic impact.
“The challenge of the three million homes program is quality absorption. We encourage Danantara to believe more in the housing sector that this ecosystem is ready to support economic growth and open up massive jobs,” Ara said.
