REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The DPP of NasDem Party decided to disable Ahmad Sahroni and Nafa Urbach as members of DPR RI from NasDem faction. Both were judged to have offended the people.

This decision is known from letters and press releases distributed to journalists, Sunday afternoon. So far there has been no direct verbal statement from DPP Partia Nasdem regarding the decommissioning.

“NasDem Party stated that since Monday (1/9/2025), NasDem Party DPP has deactivated brothers Ahmad Sahroni and Nafa Urbach as members of DPR RI from NasDem Party faction,” NasDem General Secretary Hermawi Taslim said on Sunday (31/8/2025).

Hermawi said this decision was taken after looking closely at the dynamics of society that are developing today. He insisted that the aspirations of the people should be the main reference of the NasDem Party's struggle.

“In the course of promoting the aspirations of the people, it turned out that there were statements from representatives of the people, especially members of DPR RI from the NasDem Party faction, which have offended and hurt the feelings of the people. This is a perversion to the struggle of the NasDem Party,” he said.

Earlier, Ahmad Sahroni's statement sparked a public backlash. He called the person who wanted to dissolve the Parliament of the Republic of Indonesia as a moron.

“Such a human mind is the stupid human mind of the world. Take note, the person who only mentally says dissolve the Parliament is the world's moron,” Ahmad Sahroni said during a work visit at Sumut Police Department on Friday (22/8/2025).

The statement later reaped public condemnation. Moreover, the NasDem politician has served almost three terms as a member of the Parliament of RI with a salary from the people.

Sahroni's house in Tanjung Priok ended up being targeted by the mob. Mobs looted belongings in the house since Saturday (30/8/2025).

While Nafa Urbach had time to comment on the house allowance due to the distance of travel from her home in Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) to Senayan Parliamentary Complex which is far away and stuck in traffic. This statement immediately received a strong reaction from citizens, as they considered Nafa insensitive to citizens who use public transport.
