REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEOUL -- Former Indonesia senior national coach Shin Tae Yong has been appointed Vice President of the South Korean Football Federation (KFA). After occupying the new post, STY also voted to defend the achievements of the South Korean U-17 team that Indonesia defeated in the U-17 Asian Cup a few days ago.
STY reckons Indonesia's win was influenced by luck factors. In contrast, STY technically considers South Korean football to be superior to other Asian countries, including Indonesia.
“I don't think South Korean football has regressed. In the game (against Indonesia), South Korea was just unlucky not to score,” said STY when interviewed by South Korean media, New Daily, Sunday (6/4/2025).
Earlier KFA appointed Shin Tae-yong as Vice President in the composition of the new stewardship. KFA President Chung Mong-gyu commissioned STY to establish relations with the world's football federations.
Instead, for South Korean national affairs, the KFA entrusted him to former Vietnam national coach Park Hang-seo, who will be the vice president who manages Ginseng's national squad.
