REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, AMBON -- The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) ensures the stability of electricity supply and supply in Eastern Indonesia, especially the Maluku region and its surroundings. Especially ahead of the Christmas period 2024 and New Year 2025 (Nataru).
Minister of ESDM Bahlil Lahadalia explained that the electricity supply for the Eastern Indonesian region is in a safe position. Particularly in Ambon, Bahlil visited BMPP Nusantara I Floating Power Plant on Wednesday (18/12/2024) to ensure the entire energy supply is safe for the community.
“I am sure that with the preparedness made by PLN's friends for Christmas and New Year preparations, God willing the electricity is safe,” Bahlil said.
BMPP Nusantara I Floating Power Plant has an installed capacity of 60 MW using oil-fired diesel engine (HSD) or gas as its main energy source. The existence of the plant can maintain the stability of the electrical condition of the city of Ambon.
“So the installed capacity now in all of Ambon is about 100 MW. We peak it at between 60 MW to 70 MW. So the reserve is still there about 30 MW,” he said.
Bahlil called on the public not to worry over the supply of energy sources for electricity in the 3T region. Then the supply of fuel, coal, gas, is also sufficient for a capacity of 17 to 18 days. Some even have 20 days.
Regarding the uncontested 3T region, Bahlil asked PT PLN (Persero) to immediately provide electricity access in the area. This as a government response in realizing equitable and equitable energy in all corners of the homeland.
“For our brothers and sisters whose villages do not have electricity, I have asked the Director-General (Director General) of Electricity and the Ministry of ESDM to immediately carry out an electricity program in the village so that we can cooperate with PLN. It became President Prabowo's program and order to ensure that all people should get electricity facilities,” said the figure, who is also the general chairman of the Golkar Party.
Bahlil explained that there are several villages in Maluku that have not been invaded for 24 hours. “There are 305 villages whose electricity is only 6 hours and there are about 200 more villages whose electricity is 12 hours. I have asked the General Manager (GM) that 12 hours of electricity be made 24 hours and that 6 hours be made 12 hours. It's gradual,” he said.
BMPP Nusantara Ambon is equipped with an automatic control system that enables efficient and reliable arrangement of plant operations. With its floating design, the plant has high flexibility so that it can be moved to other locations according to the needs of electricity supply.
To support power distribution, this BMPP is connected to the local transmission grid in the Ambon region, playing an important role in meeting the electricity needs of local communities and industries. The plant could operate for a long duration with optimum power output stability, making it a strategic solution in maintaining the reliability of electricity supply in island areas such as Ambon.
