REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Erick Thohir is ready to carry out the mandate given by President Prabowo Subianto. Erick gained the trust of President Prabowo to reappoint the SOE Ministry.
“Importantly, when he was sworn in, there is a trust that is loyal to the president and also ensures that the program can work well for his people in accordance with his vision. This means that we in the Ministry of state-owned enterprises must work even harder for professionalism and transparency,” Erick said when he arrived at the SOE Ministry office, Jakarta, Monday (21/10/2024).
As an aide to the president, Erick ensures that he will maintain Prabowo's vision, which will continue to enhance joint collaboration between private and MSMEs. Erick admitted that he will continue the program of downsizing SOEs until 30 SOEs remain in order to improve the effectiveness and competitiveness of SOEs in the future.
“With this open market, there is a balance between private, MSMEs and also investments from home and abroad. That's what we're trying to balance,” Erick said.
Erick stressed that partiality towards MSMEs is also a priority of the Ministry of state-owned enterprises. Erick said MSMEs are a great foundation for Indonesia's economy.
Erick said BUMN is committed to encouraging an increase in the number of Indonesian entrepreneurs, which is currently new by about 3.4 percent or lags behind other countries, reaching five percent to eight percent.
“This is what I think the role of SOEs will continue to drive how to create entrepreneurs. Medium-sized companies move up the class, with the private sector we also open cooperation,” added Erick.
Erick said SOEs will also implement Prabowo's commitment to achieving food self-sufficiency targets. Erick said SOEs are ready to strengthen a more integrated national food security ecosystem.
“Since we have fertilizers, they have to be on time, on target, especially if there will be digitization. Then for renewable energy, I think we have invested a lot now, both Pertamina and PLN, because we know that direction is inevitable,” said the former Inter Milan president.
The Ministry of state-owned enterprises will also continue the downstream acceleration that is Prabowo's vision. In addition, Erick ensures that the transformation of SOEs will continue, both in terms of professionalism, transparency, and clean-up of SOEs.
“Anyway the president has a vision, we as aides have to be loyal, have to be able to execute his vision according to his promise to serve the people,” Erick said.
