REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia Logistics Agency, Bulog has rice stocks with a volume of 1.8 million tons. To maintain these stocks, Bulog continues to prioritize domestic grain and rice procurement during the harvest season.

By mid-June 2024 the products of domestic farmers have absorbed almost 700 thousand tons. Bulog also carried out government duties by procuring rice from abroad. Bulog received an import assignment with the issuance of import permits for 3.6 million tons.

Bulog has realized the import activities amounting to two million tons through 26 ports throughout Indonesia and with priority to ports in non-central production areas.

“The port of Tanjung Priok, as the main and largest port in Indonesia, is also one of the ports of entry for imported rice. From the beginning of the year to May 2024, there are dozens of ships that have been successfully unloaded at Tanjung Priok Port with a total of approximately 490,000 tons of rice,” said President Director of Perum Bulog, Bayu Krisnamurthi, in a press release on Wednesday (12/6/2024).

Bayu ensured until recently the demolition went smoothly. In January to March there is indeed a process of unloading ships that runs quite a long time because the rainfall is still high. But the demolition process has been completed.

Some cases of the problem of delay have also been addressed. So far there are no rice ship queues at Tanjung Priok Port nor rice truck queues in Jakarta warehouses. Bulog, Bayu explained, is focused on carrying out efforts to absorb grain/rice from domestic farmers, regular distribution of Food Aid and SPHP and preparedness ahead of Eid al-Adha.

“Bulog has again received the additional assignment of distributing Rice Food Aid amounting to three months of allocation to 22 Million Beneficiary Families each month throughout Indonesia,” Bayu said.
