Suspected Murder Case Pegi Setiawan Renamed Robi During 8-Year Escape

Pegi daily worked as a building porter and changed the name to Robi.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- Police revealed that the suspects in the 2016 murder of Vina and Rizky, Pegi aka Perong or Pegi Setiawan, changed their identities during an eight-year escape or escape. He who worked as a building porter in Bandung City changed his name to Robi.

West Java Police Public Relations Officer Jules Abraham Abast said Pegi was arrested in Jalan Kopo area on Tuesday (21/5/2024). He worked daily as a building porter and changed his name to Robi. “He changed his name, the call at work (as a building porter) claimed to be called Robi,” Jules said on Wednesday (22/5/2024) evening.

He said police had had difficulty tracking down Perong's whereabouts. In addition to changing places, including Cirebon and Bandung, the suspect has also changed his name to Robi.

However, Jules said police eventually managed to trace the suspect's whereabouts while working as a building porter in the Jalan Kopo area of Bandung City. “The PS suspect is suspected to be the mastermind of a murder and rape case that occurred eight years ago,” he said.

He said the determination of the status of the suspect Pegi Setiawan and suspected mastermind of the murder was based on an in-depth examination. His side is still investigating the case.

The murder case of Vina and Rizky went viral again after a film emerged that raised the case under the title Vina: before seven days. Citizenet highlights three perpetrators who have been on the run for approximately eight years.

The police also moved to investigate the case until finally arresting one of the three fugitives, Pegi alias Perong or Pegi Setiawan. The other two perpetrators are still in pursuit.

Eight other convicted persons have been sentenced to prison of which seven were sentenced to life imprisonment and one minor was sentenced to 8 years and has gone free.
