REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Election Commission (KPU) The province of Jakarta will prepare a budget worth Rp 975 billion for the needs of the Governor Election (Pilgub) of DKI Jakarta 2024. The budget projection is strange because there is a possibility that the implementation of the Jakarta election will be carried out in two periods.
Chairman of the Division of Socialization, Voter Education and Community Participation of the Jakarta Provincial Commission, Astri Megatari, said that the budget comes from a grant from the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta. However, at present the entire budget for the needs of the Jakarta 2024 election has not been disbursed.
“Yesterday's own grant funds were disbursed to (KPU) of DKI Jakarta Province (on) 19 December 2023 which is 40 percent. Later that 60 percent will be disbursed between June or July 2024,” Astri said at Hotel Borobudur, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (2/4/2024).
According to him, the budget needs were set out in the Expenditure Budget Plan (RAB). In the RAB, it has been determined the amount of budget allocation that will be used for each stage in the 2024 election.
According to Astri, the RAB also allocated a budget for the needs if the implementation of the Jakarta election should be carried out in two rounds. However, if later the elections can be held in one round, the rest of the budget will be changed to its use following the existing regulatory mechanism.
“So we as organizers follow the existing rules,” Astri said. According to him, the amount of Rp 975 billion does look very large for the election.
However, when divided by the number of voters in Jakarta, which reached 8.2 million people, the cost for the election was only about Rp 80 thousand per voter. Astri explained that the portion of budget needs in the 2024 DKI Pilgub is mostly for fee or honor of adhoc bodies, such as PPS, PPK, and KPPS.
Because, there will be more than 100,000 people serving as KPPS in the 2024 election. Moreover, the number of polling stations (polling stations) in DKI Jakarta is very large.
“Yesterday's election had 30,766 polling stations, in this 2024 election it is estimated that the number of polling stations will be about 20,000. This means that if one polling station has seven KPPS people, there are Rp 140 thousand KPPS officers. Well that's why the portion of the grant fund is larger for honor,” Astri said.
