REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of Commission I DPR RI, Meutya Hafid, deplored the explosion incident that occurred in the ammunition warehouse belonging to Kodam Jaya TNI AD in Ciangsana area, Gunung Putri District, border between Bogor Regency and Bekasi City, West Java, Saturday (30/3/2024) evening WIB. The incident caused disruption to the safety and security of the surrounding residents.

“TNI AD should prepare standards for handling safety of maintenance and maintenance of alutsists, especially if the storage location is in densely populated areas as happened in Bekasi yesterday,” Meutya said in a press release in Jakarta, Sunday (31/3/2024).

It also requested that TNI AD proactively record community losses related to damage to residents' homes affected by blast shocks and fires at Kodam Jaya's Yonarmed ammunition warehouse. According to Meutya, the AD Army should be held responsible by compensating for the loss of the materiel.

The Golkar Party politician also hopes that TNI AD can improve the operational standard of procedures (SOP) in the future. The move also implemented the technical instructions on the maintenance and maintenance of ammunition in the military environment more strictly.

“The handling of this incident is carried out quickly and appropriately in order to avoid more damage to military facilities and residents,” Meutya said.

Earlier, the Commander-in-Chief of Kodam Jaya, Mayjen M Hasan, claimed that the warehousing system that suffered a fire in the Regional Munitions Warehouse (Gudrumah) Appliance Kodam (Paldam) Jaya in Ciangsana, Bogor Regency, on Saturday evening, was very safe. According to him, the explosion occurred as a result of a chemical reaction of the ammunition that was labile because it had expired.

According to Hasan, the storage system is already very secure because it is located in a bunker and on top of it is a levee that can secure it in case of a sideways explosion. But, he said, the sleeve does allow it to spread vertically until it reaches several places.

“But we make sure that these procedures and systems are in such a way that if there is an explosion like this it is expected to be safe,” explained the former general of Kopassus.
